General anaesthesia.

This is a widely used anaesthetic procedure in which the patient's consciousness, sensation of pain and usually also muscle tension are suspended for the duration of the operation. Based on your constitution and any pre-existing conditions, we set individual target plasma levels of the anaesthetics, which are administered by modern syringe pumps. This allows us to provide anaesthesia tailored to your individual needs. With this approach, our patients receive exactly as much anaesthetic as they really need, which improves how well the anaesthesia is tolerated.

Analgosedation.

For a certain range of procedures (dentistry, endoscopy, minor superficial surgery), analgosedation may be suitable. In this procedure, medication is given intravenously to reduce the sensation of pain and to have a calming effect. Your perception is dampened and you feel relaxed, but you remain responsive.

Regional anaesthesia.

Injecting a local anaesthetic creates a nerve block that is limited in location and time, leading to targeted pain relief in a defined region of the body. Your state of consciousness is not affected.

Depending on the planned operation, the local anaesthetic can be injected near the spinal cord, intravenously or close to peripheral nerves. This makes pain-free operations on the legs, arms and lower abdomen possible.
